Billy Birchmore represented Great Britain last week at the DSISO European Championships in Paris. He won eight individual Gold Medals after competing in the heats in the morning and then going into the finals in the evening.

As part of the GB relay team he won a further 3 Gold and 3 Silver Medals!

At the end of the Championships, Billy was crowned Top Male Athlete and the overall European Champion. A fantastic achievement and a great week of swimming by Billy and Team GB!

There is not much time to rest as Billy is off to Mexico to represent Great Britain at the INAS World Championships in a few weeks’ time. He will be swimming in a new category for Down Syndrome swimmers which will hopefully allow DS swimmers to be represented in a fair category in the Paralympics. In July next year he will be travelling to Canada for the DSISO World Championships. A very busy time ahead!

This was Jack Lyons first championship swim for Team GB. Jack was one of four juniors in the competition. He set four PBs and came first, two seconds and fourth in his heats for which he received certificates.
