Training

The structure of the The Sharks Swimming Club is built upon Swim England’s National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS).

  • Levels 1 – 4 are taught as part of our Learn to Swim Section.
  • Levels 5 – 7 are taught as part of our Intermediate Section.
  • Levels 8 – 10 are taught as part of our Development Section.
  • Club Squad is aimed at our more senior and experience swimmers.

Our goals

Swimmers are taught to the highest standards as it is to the Club’s advantage that young swimmers enter the Development squad with three efficient and sustainable swimming strokes (Front crawl, Back stroke and Breast stroke), the beginnings of Butterfly and some knowledge and practice of starts and turns. Not all of young swimmers will grow into competitive members, but while swimmers are with The Sharks Swimming Club, we aim to engage them and to bring out the best of their ability. Swimming skills are for life. All swimmers will receive lots of encouragement and they will be assessed regularly.

Coaches/teachers

The Sharks Swimming Club has a solid Coaching/Teaching structure who between them they have years of experience in teaching children and young people to swim. But, like with all volunteer helpers we do, from time to time have some trouble with week to week continuity. If this is something you can help us to resolve please talk to the Head Coach or the help desk on a Monday night at the Eric Liddell Centre.
